essay my first day in school

In addition to engaging students in this rhetorical analysis activity, I have adapted this color-coding exercise for research-based essays. In the research-based essay assignment, I ask students to examine a topic of their choice by conducting secondary well as primary research, including observations, surveys, or interviews. The assignment encourages students to contribute to a conversation that holds interest or significance to them. As students often investigate issues that arise from their personal interests, this genre can include traditionally narrative elements such as scene-setting and description as well as typical elements of research articles, including secondary sources, primary data collection, findings, analysis, and discussion. In this sense, this genre is hybrid in form, interweaving aspects of narrative, analytical, and research-based writing.

As shown in the second screenshot above, four students annotated the final paragraphs of the essay with their comments. Have the same familiar stores, the same familiar logos? This screenshot illustrates the multilayered, intersecting nature of writing purposes and structures, showing that the sections are not necessarily linear, sequential, or mutually exclusive. Although this sample essay serves as one possible model or guide for approaching the assignment, I encourage students to structure their essays in flexible ways, according to their intended purposes for writing. For instance, I note the way the writer of the sample essay recursively generates new driving questions throughout the essay as opposed to only presenting initial questions in the opening.

While collaborating on a Google Doc, students co-construct meaning by identifying key characteristics of written genres and by annotating the essays with their own commentary. Even so, one possible limitation of this approach might be that conceptions of writing are reduced to the surface-level features of a writing sample. In the future, I seek to encourage critical discussion of the shifting, evolving nature of academic writing as constructed by continual interactions across generic and discursive contexts, as writers shape and become shaped by the discourses they create. In this sense, students can become inspired not only to form their written compositions, but to transform their conceptions of writing as well.

Back in ancient Greece, the color blue represents virginity. The other side of blue is emotional coldness and depression. Other than representation mentioned above, color also represent a concept. This means it has specific meaning. For example, in traffic light red means stop and green means go universally. Another good example is green robe that wore by surgeon worldwide. Green has calm effect towards humans. In the nature colors have meaning or purpose to it. Some animals get their unique color from its diet. Take flamingo as an example, its color is pink but flamingo do not have the capability to produce pink pigmentation on its own. The color comes from its diet of plankton and shrimps. The color from the food that they eat is transferred and thus we see a pink flamingo.

In the animal world, colors are used to differentiate between species. For instance, in closely related species, color will be the main differential. Other than used as gender differential, it is also serve as warning. Animals advertise warning message through display of vibrant and striking colors. For some animals such as chameleon, colors are used as defensive method against predator. Chameleon has the capability to change the color to match the surrounding environment. Most human in the world does not realize that color play a big part in their lives. This is because humans are surrounded by colors from the moment they are born. There is also a studies that this unnoticed phenomenon also affects blind people.

We talk a room painted green as an example. In a dim light condition, the green room looks bluish green and will not bring the calm effect which it can bring. However if the room is fill with bright light, we can see the vibrant green compare to the bluish green earlier. Another example is the color in the food that human takes daily. The subject most probably will only consume small quantity and will feel loss of appetite even is the food is delicious. This reaction not only affects a person who is not hungry, a person who is hungry will also react in this way. If we change the food to more colorful with the addition of different types of vegetables, meat and sauce the subject will gladly finish the food even he is not that hungry.

Some might even say, it tastes better than it actually is. However back in the time beginning of human, color play a different role in their lives. Early humans select the food they eat through the color it is in. An ancient human tends to avoid foods that are pale and look dull. They pick and eat fruits which are bright in color. They understand that the fruit is ripe and can be eaten from the color it displays. Humans also apply and use color in their business world. In the business and corporate world, color used specifically in branding. This is because specific color used in the branding of the company logo can bring hidden message.
